Does a Golden Retriever need a lot of grooming?

Grooming your Golden Retriever is important to keep his skin and coat in top condition.  Although the Golden Retriever is a long coated breed, their coat is relatively easy to look after.

A weekly brush is usually all that is necessary to  remove dead hair and debris and keep his coat clean and shiny.

A daily grooming session is a good idea for your new puppy.  This gets him used to standing still while being brushed and combed.  It also teaches him to stand quietly while he is being handled.

Although Golden Retrievers enjoy being wet and muddy, you will find that when his coat dries most of the mud and dirt will simply brush out.

Golden Retrievers could easily be called a wash and wear dog.
