Fernfall Forever Mine CDX

8 August 1985-- 13 May 1996

In 1985 we wanted to get a Golden Retriever puppy but were finding it hard to save the money.  Then Cheryl had to do quite a bit of overtime and every overtime dollar went into the puppy fund envelope.  The day finally came when we had enough for a Golden Retriever puppy.

We met Jane Fall (Fernfall Golden Retrievers) through the Golden Retriever Club of Victoria.  She introduced us to the world of pedigree dogs, showing and obedience.  The rest, as they say, is history.

We started to train Peppa at our local obedience dog club and really enjoyed the training and the camaraderie at the club.

Before long we were in the conformation ring.  We only entered one show before competing at the Royal Melbourne Show--the biggest dog show in the southern hemisphere!  In hindsight, we should have practiced a bit more first!

We were thrilled when Peppa was awarded Runner Up In Show from an entry of 82 dogs at the Golden Retriever Club Open Show in 1987.  She was also placed fourth in the Open Bitch class from an entry of 26 at the Royal Melbourne Show in 1988.
